Vítor Pisco

Vítor Pisco is a contemporary Portuguese visual artist born in Santiago Maior, Alandroal, in 1972. From a young age, he showed a passion for drawing and painting, which was cultivated during his time at the secondary school of Reguengos de Monsaraz. There, he was actively involved in the creation of advertising posters under the guidance of his drawing teacher. After graduating from high school, Pisco explored handmade painting in a pottery in São Pedro do Corval, which deepened his appreciation for traditional Alentejo art.

In 2003, Pisco deepened his artistic skills by studying with Professor Camol D'Évora in Évora, where he acquired new knowledge about the art world. Although he graduated in Information Sciences at the Open University and graduated in 2015, where the study of Animations and Artistic Expressions reaffirmed his belief in the importance of art for personal development, he continued to practice art in his spare time.

Pisco's artistic career took a significant turn during the 2020 pandemic, when the confinement period allowed him to dedicate more time to painting. This period marked a creative explosion for him, leading to a substantial evolution in his work. His acrylic paintings on canvas, characterized by personal traits and emotional depth, began to reflect a more abstract and expressive style from 2023 onwards. His works reveal a journey of self-taught mastery developed over decades, featuring strong, gestural brushstrokes and a mature, abstract approach.

Influenced by Surrealist and Expressionist movements, Pisco draws inspiration from iconic artists such as Pablo Picasso and Salvador Dalí. Her work serves as a canvas for her emotions, memories, and reflections, offering a vivid exploration of her inner world.
