Lucia Dibi

Lucia Dibi was born in Milan (Italy). She graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts of Brera in Painting and specialized in New Art Technologies.
Before dedicating herself fully to art, she worked as an illustrator and interior decorator.
Lucia’s artistic research is focused on mapping the world around her. It is the city that attracts her: its casual everyday life, its architectural corners. Her subjects are born from these spaces. She seeks authenticity through light and space. Lucia has a growing archive of photos of subjects that deserve to be painted, either for their personal connection or their composition.
She likes to see a part of herself in what she paints. The constant element is that these subjects do not stop at being mere objects but always strive to move in another direction, and painting is their means to do so.
Lucia does not intentionally load her paintings with metaphors; everything arises from a formal need. She combines her pictorial experimentation with technology, aware that digital multimedia has changed her perception and allowed her to discover new coordinates and new information.
Photography is the first phase of Lucia’s work: it allows her to capture fragments of urban history that she decomposes, simplifies and reduce to a few lines, and then reinterpret with acrylic colours mixed with various materials.
