The name Valentina means Stylish and Strong, and the perfect description of this beautiful Toucan. I first created a background with a variety of tools using acrylic paint and gel to emulate the tropical rain forests that I envision for this bird. I then used modeling paste to build the layers of feathers and the beak so that it has a sculptural feeling. The brush and palette knife were then used to create value so that each feather comes alive in an impressionistic manner. The colors are bold oranges and blues that are gradated to numerous shades of each. On a gallery wrapped canvas, the edges are painted black so that this art can be hung with or without a frame.
