Painting has been Colin's passion for all his life and continues to be so. He paints now in oils and acrylic, in various styles. Colin loves the texture [and smell] of oil paint, and the feel of brush on canvas. As well as Western style oils with texture and realism, his alter ego style is inspired by the Japanese ‘ukiyo-e’ style of artists like Hokusai, a visual poetry of shape, line and colour

Colin paints around 100 paintings a year, in subjects as varied as seascapes, still life's, landscapes of all 4 seasons, street scenes, [especially Venice] abstracts and occasional portraits. Colin exhibits widely, especially the annual arts festival in Pittenweem , Fife, and 3 solo exhibitions at the Hive, Worcester’ cultural centre.

Colin does demonstrations/workshops to Art Societies all over the UK, both freelance and through Artprofile. As well as in England and Scotland, several of Colin's pictures are now in private collections in France, Germany, Australia and America, including two belonging to Michael Steele, once bassist of the ‘Bangles’!

Now living in Worcester with his wife, he was born and brought up in Anstruther, Fife, and often returns there. Colin's family is a son and daughter, and 5 lovely grandchildren. His other passion is astrophotography with telescopes. He had a spell of writing poetry, now gone, and wrote a novel some time ago. Colin is passionate about cricket, despite being Scottish, and still play guitar, despite being deaf.
