Gabriela Aleksandra Szuba (GAS)

Gabriela Aleksandra Szuba, known professionally as GAS, is a Polish artist who lives and works in Italy. After completing studies in economics, she embarked on an independent artistic path, guided by inner research and a desire to give form to the invisible. Her painting emerges from silence and unfolds as a meditative act: using acrylics, crackle paste, pigments, and gold leaf, she builds living surfaces where every fissure is a trace of time and every layer an emotional passage. Matter becomes memory, while light—reflected in gold—takes on a spiritual presence.
Her works do not describe but evoke: fragility and resilience, a sense of the sacred emerging from the crack. Deep, dramatic colours lead the viewer into a suspended space between tension and stillness, flesh and spirit. Each title is a threshold, an invitation to a symbolic journey, a meditation and a secular prayer. She has exhibited in Italy, Argentina, and the United Kingdom within contexts of contemporary research, where each exhibition becomes an extension of her creative process and a sharing of states of being.
