Paul Gurney is a studio and plain-air artist, working with oil paints, watercolours, gouache or pen and ink depending on the subject he selects. Paul loves painting plein-air of views he has been inspired by - that can be a tractor in morning light or the cliffs on an afternoon walk in Wales. Paul loves to draw and paint observationally, creating interesting interpretations of landscapes, people or animals, exploring new techniques in various mediums where possible and always experimenting and learning. Every view or object can be a possible subject to be captured in his accurate, natural and impressionistic style. Paul loves painting the subtle and varied colours made in outdoor light, the moods in weather conditions on landscapes. Unexpected colour combinations are created on Paul’s palette and woven into his paintings to create eye catching and interesting art pieces.

Previously Paul has worked as an Art Director and Creative Director in Advertising Agencies in London with spells as an illustrator for children’s books. Paul has drawn and painted all his life selling his work to collectors in the USA, Japan and the UK.
